Itinerary

Day 01 : Rishikesh to Joshimath

Departure from Rishikesh: Start early morning for Joshimath.\nScenic drive: Enjoy views of hills, rivers, and valleys.\nReach Joshimath: Arrive in the afternoon after an 11-hour drive.\nCheck-in accommodation: Settle into a local guesthouse or homestay.\nAcclimatization: Relax and adjust to the altitude.

Day 02 : Joshimath to Ghangaria

Drive from Joshimath to Govindghat.\nStart the 14km trek to Ghangaria.\nWalk alongside the Pushpawati river.\nReach Ghangaria and overnight stay in a guesthouse.

Day 03 : Ghangaria to Valley of Flowers

Start early morning for Valley of Flowers.\nTrek through the beautiful alpine meadows.\nSpot rare Himalayan flora including Blue Poppy.\nReturn to Ghangaria by evening.

Day 04 : Ghangaria to Hemkund Sahib

Trek to the holy Gurudwara Hemkund Sahib.\nSteep ascent of about 6kms.\nVisit the holy lake and the Gurudwara.\nReturn to Ghangaria.

Day 05 : Ghangaria to Badrinath to Joshimath

Trek down to Govindghat.\nDrive to Badrinath temple for darshan.\nDrive back to Joshimath for overnight stay.

Day 06 : Joshimath to Rishikesh

Early morning departure for Rishikesh.\nArrive in the late afternoon or evening.\nTrip concludes.

Fitness Requirements

The Valley of Flowers trek is considered a moderate trek. You will be trekking an average of 6-8 km per day in high altitudes. Good cardiovascular health and leg strength are required.

Preparation Tips:

  • Start jogging 3-4 kms a day at least a month before the trek.
  • Practice walking with a 5kg backpack.
  • Do squats and lunges to build thigh and calf muscle strength.
  • Practice yoga for better lung capacity (Pranayama).

Do's

  • Carry sufficient warm clothing and rain gear.
  • Stay hydrated and drink plenty of water during the trek.
  • Respect the local culture and religious sentiments at Hemkund Sahib.
  • Keep the trekking trails and campsites clean (Leave No Trace).

  • Do not pluck any flowers or disturb the flora in the valley.
  • Do not consume alcohol or smoke during the expedition.
  • Do not leave your group or trek alone without informing the guide.
